Whether you’re looking for a truck that can do a hard day’s work, crawl though off-road paths and ford streams, or drive around town in comfort and style, we think there should be a Ford F-150 in your future. That’s because you can order the F-150 in a configuration to suit every need. According to the Carlsbad Ford dealer, the 2018 Ford F-150 has been the top-selling vehicle in America for more than three decades.
Changes for 2018 include a new base 3.3-liter V6, which replaces the 3.5-liter V6 from the 2017 model. The 2.7-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 engines get an update with more power, and all three engines get auto stop-start to save fuel. The forward collision mitigation system has been updated, along with refreshed front and rear styling. These features are just some of the reasons that in places like Carlsbad, Ford F-150 owners are so pleased with their purchases.

Autoweek praised the 2018 Ford F-150, writing: “The design update on the F-150 makes it the best-looking domestic. Loads of choices. That’s what truck buyers want, and with the F-150, they definitely have them.”
To satisfy different types of owners, Ford offers the F-150 in six trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited. There’s also a performance variant called Raptor that we won’t be reviewing here. There are three cab styles (Regular Cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew) and three bed sizes (5.5 feet, 6.5 feet and 8 feet).
The F-150 S trim includes 17-inch steel wheels, cruise control, MyKey controls, automatic headlights, a height-adjustable driver seat, a 60/40-split folding and reclining rear seat, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, air conditioning, Bluetooth, the Sync interface with AppLink, a 4.2-inch central display, a rearview camera, and a six-speaker audio that includes a CD player and a USB port.
Most Ford F-150 models are powered by a 3.3-liter V6 that develops 290 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. Those looking for more power can choose the turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine that cranks out 325 horses and 400 lb.-ft., connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission. Powering the Platinum and King Ranch models is a standard 5.0-liter V8 that generates an impressive 395 hp and 400 lb.-ft., also paired with the ten-speed automatic. If that isn’t enough, there’s also a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 block that’s offered in two versions. One variant produces 375 hp and 470 lb.-ft., while the other blasts out an amazing 450 hp and 510 lb.-ft. Both come joined to the ten-speed automatic.
