2019 Ford Explorer For Sale In Escondido
SUVs are extremely popular in the United States, and the Ford Explorer is the SUV that started it all. Introduced for the 1991 model year, the Explorer is currently in its fifth generation. This family-friendly midsize SUV pleases buyers at dealerships like the Escondido Ford dealer with its ample interior space, outstanding ride, excellent handling and great list of features. It’s no wonder the 2019 Ford Explorer is America’s best-selling three-row SUV.
The 2019 Ford Explorer is offered in five trim levels, listed as base, XLT, Limited, Sport and Platinum. According to Escondido Ford, the base, XLT and Limited models can be had with front- or all-wheel drive. The Sport and Platinum trims are all-wheel drive only. The standard transmission is a six-speed automatic.
There are three engine offerings, providing enough versatility for every buyer:
- Powering the base and XLT trims is a standard 3.5-liter V6 engine generating 290 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque.
- A 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 280 hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque is available on the above trims and standard on the Limited trim, which can also get the 3.5-liter V6 as an option.
- The Sport and Platinum trims are equipped with a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that’s good for 365 hp and 350 lb.-ft. of torque.
The automotive press has great things to say about the Ford Explorer. One example is Autotrader, which wrote: “The Explorer large SUV crossover comes with a smooth ride, sleek design and a high-quality interior hosting cutting-edge technology. Driving more like a car than a truck (and a luxury car at that), this 7-seater crossover is not as roomy as a minivan -- or even some slightly larger competitors from GM — but it's undoubtedly among the best of its kind.”
The base trim comes with 18-inch wheels, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a 4.2-inch color display, a rearview camera, a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth and a USB port. Also standard is the Ford Sync voice command system.
The XLT trim starts with the features of the base trim and adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power-adjustable front passenger seat and satellite radio. Options packages available with the XLT trim include the Driver Connect package, which includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Sync 3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and more USB ports. The Ford Safe and Smart package comes with driver assist features such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist and more.
The Limited trim includes all the features found in the Driver Connect package and adds heated and ventilated front seats, power-folding third-row seats, leather seats, a premium Sony audio system and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel.
The Sport trim comes with a sport-tuned suspension and a towing package.
The Platinum trim includes the features of the Ford Safe and Smart package, plus power-adjustable pedals, premium leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an automated parking system, a premium stereo system and more.
The NHTSA gave the 2019 Ford Explorer its highest rating of five stars in overall crash testing results. As of this writing, the IIHS hasn’t tested the 2019 Explorer.
