There are a few notable changes this year. The 2019 Ford Fusion now includes Ford’s Co-Pilot360 system on all trim levels. This system adds advanced driver assist features such as a rear backup camera, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot warning, automatic high beams and automatic emergency braking. The Titanium and Sport trims get the Co-Pilot360 Assist package standard. Co-Pilot360 Assist includes adaptive cruise control, voice-activated navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link. This package is optional on the other trim levels. On the outside, the 2019 Fusion gets a new front and rear fascia.

Kelley Blue Book gave the Ford Fusion thumbs up, writing: “There's a little something for anybody looking for a comfortable and nicely equipped midsize sedan. The low-end Fusion S comes with enough standard equipment that bargain hunters won't feel like they've compromised, while the higher-end Fusion Platinum comes with enough features to pass as the luxury car the Fusion's sweeping exterior styling suggests.”

The Fusion can seat five passengers and is offered in S, SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport trim levels. Additionally, there are hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants not covered in this review. Here’s a rundown on the 2019 Ford Fusion’s engines:

  • The standard engine is a 2.5-liter inline-4 that generates 175 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque, connected to a six-speed automatic gearbox that’s standard across the lineup.
  • A 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine makes 181 horsepower.
  • A 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 is good for 245 horsepower.
  • A 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 cranks out 325 horsepower. This engine is standard on the Sport trim and comes with all-wheel drive.

Fusion owners will be spoiled by the number of standard tech features they’ll get. A Sync 3 8-inch touchscreen with an integrated 4G LTE modem comes standard on SE trims and higher. Move up to the SEL model and you’ll be treated to LED headlights, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 10-way power driver’s seat and heated front seats. The Titanium trim comes with 19-inch wheels, a sunroof, a heated steering wheel, and heated and cooled front seats. An optional Sony audio system with 12 speakers delivers crisp, clear sound.

The seats are comfortable and supportive, keeping the driver and passengers relaxed, even on longer trips. Taller passengers will appreciate the ample head- and legroom provided by the Ford Fusion. There’s 16 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk, enough to store about 12 paper bags full of groceries.
