2023 Ford F-150 Lightning
Electric vehicles have historically been sedans and compact cars, but those days are gone. Thanks to recent advances in automotive technology, electric vehicles come in many forms, including pickup trucks. If you're looking for an electric pickup, the new F-150 Lightning might be just what you need. Learn more about the award-winning 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning, and discover everything it can offer.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The new F-150 Lightning has four trim levels, each of which has exciting features to offer. The standard Pro trim, for example, boasts 18-inch machined wheels with black high-gloss pockets and automatic high beams. At the XLT level, the wheels upgrade to 20 inches with an available add-on, while LED mirror-mounted spotlights are standard.
Upgrade to the Lariat trim and you get 20-inch alloy dark carbonized gray wheels with LED box lighting. This trim also boasts a geometric gray-ion fine satin metallic design for its grille, plus signature lighting. At the top of the trims lies the Platinum, with its 22-inch wheels and Vader Black high-gloss grille.
Engine (Power)
The F-150 Lightning can be outfitted with one of two engine options, but the standard engine certainly comes with plenty of power. This engine offers 452 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque. The upgraded engine offers the same amount of torque but increases the horsepower to 580. Aside from power, these engines are primarily differentiated by their battery range, with the more powerful version having a greater range.
Performance
Just because the Ford F-150 Lightning is an electric vehicle doesn't mean you shouldn't expect impressive performance and capability. In fact, the towing capacity for this truck is 10,000 pounds when properly equipped. Even the base model can pull 7,700 pounds. In terms of payload capacity, you'll find limits from 1,800 to 2,000 pounds, depending on which version of this truck you choose.
Interior
Inside the F-150 Lightning, you'll find much of the advanced technology for which electric vehicles are known. This includes a standard 12-inch touchscreen interface that you can upgrade to a massive 15.5 inches. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are available, too. Add Chevy's SYNC 4A infotainment system (which is standard on the Platinum and Lariat) to connect to the cloud and access traffic and navigation details.
You can also take advantage of the truck's front trunk. Its electric design frees up significant space that would normally be reserved for an engine, so it's easy to take along that extra bit of cargo.
Safety Features
A major part of the F-150 Lightning's advanced technology is its array of safety features that let you and your passengers ride with peace of mind. Driver assistance features such as automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist are standard on all models. Additional systems are available if you want to upgrade beyond the standard offerings to enjoy features such as adaptive cruise control. You'll even find a hands-free driving mode that can go so far as to maintain your lane on the highway.
